Physics.........................the supposedly most dreaded, feared, cursed and what not said about subject of PCB students and NEET/AIIMS exam seeking students.Students and even sometimes teachers often mislead you about how to do Physics and even exaggerate the subject that needs a simple, methodical and dedication having approach. If you have decided that-"I will study, learn, understand Physics no matter how I fear it or what problems come!", nothing can stop you.For books and study materials, stick to few books,do hardwork and have the patience.
Auxiliary books - These can be used once you are a semi-pro and need to become a pro.You have got broadly understood the basics of Physics by NCERT and coaching materials and want to go to the next level .You are passionate about achieving something in NEET/AIIMS and not just sitting there scared of Physics.Recommended for Semi Pros and Pros.
Two great books by a very great Physics professor at IIT Kanpur, these books actually teach you the substance of each topic in Physics.Read them after studying NCERT and Coaching stuff. You will feel that your understanding of Physics has grown. For taking your Physics to the next level, this is the stair you need to climb upon.Do the questions only when you are super confident about your topics and are scoring good in coaching tests.Otherwise stick to other books for questions.
For the confusion which to choose between DC Pandey and HC Verma,I san say that DC Pandey is more exam oriented while HC Verma is more subject oriented. Two points will clear the choice-
Will update list if find other good books too!
Coming to the topic, today I will be telling about the books I followed for NEET/AIIMS Physics, that were recommended to me by my teachers and ex-NEET/AIIMS high rankers.
Again all the students are divided into 3 categories - Beginner,Semi-pro and Pros.
- Beginners-Those who have just began NEET/AIIMS preparation and don't have much clue about the pattern and syllabus of NEET/AIIMS. They are just learning the basics and fundamentals of Physics, theory being first then numericals.
- Semi-pro -Those who have already began their preparation and have undergone 2-3 months of coaching and studying. They are aware of Physics as a subject and can solve most basic problems of NEET/AIIMS pattern.Although they maybe still have doubts in certain topics and may not have learnt the approach to solve some tricky problems.
- Pro - These are the people who have already mastered NCERT,coaching study materials and good Physics problem books. They are well versed with both theory and question-solving approach and can easily solve complete previous years questions, even the trickiest ones from JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
- NCERT Physics Class 11&12
- A good NEET/AIIMS DLP or Booklet package from a reputed coaching institute - Again comes the difference between Bio and Phy/Chem in study materials. In Bio its still possible to score 75-80% with only NCERT,but here to even read and solve the questions properly you need coaching materials. Many formulas, theories and a good question bank are missing from NCERT Physics books so you definitely need something extra.
- Concepts of Physics by HC Verma(Part 1 and Part 2): ONLY FOR THEORY
Two great books by a very great Physics professor at IIT Kanpur, these books actually teach you the substance of each topic in Physics.Read them after studying NCERT and Coaching stuff. You will feel that your understanding of Physics has grown. For taking your Physics to the next level, this is the stair you need to climb upon.Do the questions only when you are super confident about your topics and are scoring good in coaching tests.Otherwise stick to other books for questions.
- Understanding Physics for JEE Main and Advanced by DC Pandey
Its a series of 5 books separated by topics as Mechanics-1, Mechanics-2,Wave and Thermodynamics,Electromagnetism and Optics&Modern Physics.According to me if your coaching teacher notes does not provide good theory or you feel it a bit incomplete as compared to what comes in tests.Do go for it as DC Pandey himself being a Physics teacher in a coaching institute has made superb theory points. Also he has given a 'typed problem section' in the 2016 editions, which contains several classical examples of questions which come in JEE,NEET and AIIMS and the method recommended to solve them.He has also pointed out some conceptual mistakes that we students do while solving problems. For NEET and AIIMS students, use this book for theory and do questions only upto JEE-Main level. That will be more than sufficient for building strong concepts for NEET/AIIMS.
For the confusion which to choose between DC Pandey and HC Verma,I san say that DC Pandey is more exam oriented while HC Verma is more subject oriented. Two points will clear the choice-
- If your coaching notes are good enough to help you solve your coaching material and understand Physics easily, prefer delaying DC Pandey books for revision time(maybe end of Class 11 or in Class 12) and pick HC Verma instead.
- But if your coaching notes are not sufficient and you are struggling with different types of questions of study material and tests, pick DC Pandey books instantly and avoid HC Verma.
That's all with this post.My last words remain the same as in the Biology and Chemistry books post.
"Actually the main thing behind this post is informing students that they should focus on few selected, well recommended books rather than again and again changing them and ending up with a pile of books and no knowledge still. Also don't pay heed to X student or Y Bhaiya and Z Didi for book recommendations unless they have themselves completely studied from that book and are benefiting from it.I have seen many people get "out of course" and quite thick books which they never studied again after few days or weeks of purchasing them.Simply because these didn't help for NEET/AIIMS.
Please stick to your coaching teacher(not school teacher) and ex-NEET/AIIMS high rankers only for book recommendations.Once you have chosen few books, stick to them for a good period and many coaching tests until you feel that's not helping.Do learn patiently and steadily as only what you have extracted from these books will help you finally, not having these books themselves."Will update list if find other good books too!
Till next time
Bye!
Edit:Do post your queries in comments section.I will try my best to answer them.
I am a dropper and want to be in AIIMS, I know most of the concept and can solve few questions. Formula, few of them are still in mind but as rhe coaching institute syllabus shall proceedthy will be back.
ReplyDeletePlease help me select one book for Physics.
DC or HCV?
See Vineet if your basic concepts are quite clear (means the subject Physics is clear and you can solve easy to medium level questions) then definitely choose DC Pandey JEE Main and Advanced one and solve till JEE Main level there. You may see JEE Advanced examples and tricks though they are rare to come in AIIMS and NEET.Pick HCV only in topics you don't have basic knowledge(like I used it for Modern Physics and Waves because I couldn't understand those in class lectures in one attempt easily)
DeleteI'm a newcomer to class XI , I'm solving DC Pandey and some part of HC Verma for physics ; Class notes and institute module which is very good for chemistry and trueman for biology ... I also solve previous 29 years questions ... is it enough ... I like all the three subjects ...
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you are going for DC Pandey and HC Verma from the beginning itself and you can continue doing them till you have good idea about the topics and can comprehend or understand the stuff written in them.If any problem comes there go for coaching institute notes and material, ask doubts to your teacher and improve upon your weak concepts.Previous year questions of PMTs are priority, but do one more thing by solving AIEEE papers from 2001-2008 and the 'Additional Exercises' of NCERT Physics, they will teach you several new concepts that have started to come in NEET/AIIMS from past 2 years.Just be consistent with all topics, improve upon what you were yesterday and keep practicing and nothing more is required.
DeleteHi admin ... I need advise...
ReplyDeleteActually I am preparing for Aiims and NEET 2018... And using this combo
Physics - ncert and SL Arora(for theory) , ...for questions - DC PANDEY and HC VERMA(only few questions from it) ..
Chemistry - for theory -ncert , Pradeeps(for all physical ,organic and inoragnic)
For questions - NARENDRA AWASTHI(physical)
MS Chauhan(oragnic)
And Vk jaiswal(inorganic)
And also arihant's NEET Preparatory series by Dr.Rk Gupta
Biology - theory- ncert ,notes, Trueman's(for clearing cocenpts of topics)..
Questions - NCERT AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
along with this I use Allen's Study package and also previous year questions of both Aiims and NEET for all three subjects ...
Is this a perfect plan for entrance or should I change some ?
For Chemistry avoid Pradeep's, rather pick up Allen or Resonance study materials.Prefer doing questions from coaching materials first, take up books afterwards. For Bio use Dr.Ali for making NCERT topics strong.
ReplyDeleteThank you...
ReplyDelete😊✌
Actually is reading Trueman's elementary biology necessary for AIIMS/NEET ?
Because it has very deep information and actually reading that requires a lot of time....and this makes us devote less time for physics numericals which is the most important and rank deciding one ...
So is NCERT whole with allens module sufficient ? Or else suggest some ideas please
Is reading whole Trueman's elementary biology required for AIIMS/NEET.?
ReplyDeleteAS IT CONTAINS a lot of information requires a lot of time to read it.. And this makes me devote less time to Physics numericals which would be the rank deciding one in the entrance exam...
So ncert whole along with Allen's module ? Will it be sufficient for AIIMS/NEET?
You can avoid Truemans entirely except very few diagrams which may not be there in other sources.NCERT+Allen study material/notes is sufficient for NEET/AIIMS.
DeleteThank you 😊✌
ReplyDeleteu had resonance dlp or classroom?? i have no coaching in my area ..should i take allen dlp or resonance dlp? resonance dlp of jee mains or neet?
ReplyDeleteI had Resonance Classroom and Allen DLP.If you have got no coaching in your area, you can take NEET DLPs of both Allen and Resonance as you have time to solve both.Resonance DLP is good for Physics and Chemistry and Allen is good for Biology. Also,Resonance DLP and Classroom materials don't differ in content but only in packing.
Deletedoes it contain short tricks? which dlp should i take? the neet one or the jee ones? will it contain dpp? what content you got in allen dlpp> m confused pls help
DeleteAs such no specific short tricks section is there, but solved examples are given for may standard type of questions, which are frequently asked.Take NEET DLPs only of both. DPP is optional and some extra charges are to be given for DPP pack, that too only with Resonance.Allen doesn't give DPPs to DLP students.
DeleteIn Allen,I got subject and topic wise booklets of various topics. At the end of the year, they sent AIPMT and AIIMS previous year papers, along with revision handbooks.See Resonance one is preferable for Physics and Chemistry and Allen for Biology. If your confused still, get used booklets of some senior student(Allen or Resonance) and buy the one which you don't get from some senior.
thank u so much..u knw there is no such coaching in my area..and i am feeling confused whether i will be able to crack NEET with good rrank without coaching..sometimes i feel demotivated..my dream is to be in aiims delhi but will i able to crack it without coaching? i dnt think so no one does..maximum aiims achiever are from allen kota..and my parents are not willing to send me kota as it is far away from my state and high fees and i dnt knw any1 there
ReplyDeleteSee with the amount of distance learning facilities available these days online and offline,it’s not impossible to crack NEET without coaching.Important is the direction in which you concentrate. The biggest plus point of coaching is that good teachers at coachings tell you where to concentrate more and resolve your doubts.A competitive batch and regular tests stimulate you to give your best.Still, you can crack NEET if you have the willpower to attain the same stimulation by self-motivation.You may be disoriented by other people around you,but you have to stick to the pattern and schedule that this exam requires.
DeleteFor example :Allen offers both online and offline test series for NEET/AIIMS whichever suits you. Resonance offers DPPs and DLP packs.DPPs help in daily practice a lot.Aakash institute gives recorded video lectures in memory cards which can be seen on PC/Tablet.Biology ones are extremely good, although for Physics and Chemistry you need a separate teacher who can clear your doubts as well, lectures are not that useful.Sigrid app by Bansal for Android has all Bansal modules in PDF form for free, which can be used for Chemistry,if not Maths and Physics.
Also,it’s also not necessary to go to Kota for preparation.Being from Rajasthan, lot of people advised me to go to Allen Kota for NEET preparation. But,I wasn’t so bold at that time to go,live and study in Kota alone.Neither did my parents prefer that option, considering that a branch of Resonance was present here, having 4-5 of the best faculty of Physics,Chemistry and Biology with good previous track record in JEE and AIPMT(NEET).Also,Resonance had strong backing of Physics and Chemistry study material from its Kota branch. So all those things made me reach the place today I am today.Even in my college, other students wonder how did I crack these exams staying at home itself, without going to Allen Kota/Jaipur.Your determination to crack these exams is a bigger thing than these coaching institutes,so don't be disheartened. If you are determined strongly to come in Medical field, nothing can beat true hard work and patience.
DeleteThere is difference in Syllabus between JEE and medical entrance exam . DC pandey which you recommend is up to JEE -Main or Advanced but in medical questions is much easier than jee . Please let me know which physics book best for 2017 NEET/AIIMS for me and I'm taking private tuition of physics also . Inform me as soon as possible
ReplyDeleteSee these days that difference you are talking about is vanishing strongly. In Re-AIPMT 2015 and both the papers of 2016,the Physics paper was way higher in level than any other papers in the past 10-12 years.Direct questions came from previous JEE-Main papers and one matching type question of JEE-Advanced pattern came directly from DC Pandey(although I found it in the book few days after NEET while preparing for AIIMS).
DeleteIt’s better to stay prepared for whatever they fire on you rather than sticking to old patterns. Also for AIIMS,complete NCERT with additional exercises and exemplar problem along with DC Pandey JEE Main level questions is top priority, you don’t have much other options.Recommended books are the same as I have mentioned in the above post.
Hi admin..
ReplyDeleteAs u suggested to use Dr.Ali for biology.. I started using along with allen materials ...
As it is written in the front page of dr.Ali that 100% questions asked in AIPMT are from this book... Is it correct ?
And also I want to ask you that in physics should I solve every question given in HC VERMA to be strong in physics and get a good rank in entrance
Actually that's a bit of exaggeration for selling the book.Don’t worry much about it.In Physics do all solved examples and objective types of HC Verma.Stay away from subjective ones rather practice from Coaching materials. If you want to do the best, solve DC Pandey till JEE Main and Solved examples in later phases of your preparation
ReplyDeletei got resonance material as suggested by you..but i took the jee main ones physics and chemistry from shop which sells old bookss but it is of 2013 version..will i have disadvantage that i took old one? chemistry is nice as you told many type of questions are there like some even came in neet 2016 but theory is very less..i think it is classroom one..what should i do? should i buy allen or resonance dlp new ones to get new type of questions for practice and good theory? what you suggest?
ReplyDeleteNo major disadvantages as such regarding edition, but questions from past 2 years will be missing. Although they can be found out on internet too.
ReplyDeleteComing to the next point, theory in these sheets may not make you understand some concepts. This can become problematic. In my case, since I was a classroom student,I preferred our teacher's notes over sheets, but revised atleast all sheets once to ensure anything was not left uncovered. So, first you need someone or something to make you understand the subject or topic. Then comes the role of sheets and questions.Actually this is the main problem you face when you don't go or even can't go to coaching for these exams. There are certain concepts which books or sheets can't teach directly ,an you can learn them only in class.
If you think these JEE Main sheets are way above your level(which may be the case since JEE Main Physics if not Chem has tougher Maths applications or calculations) and that you can afford to buying new ones, get them along with DPPs. JEE Main type questions are longer and a bit more complex,so that can hamper your speed and approach in doing simpler problems but in less time.Practice past year JEE Main(AIEEE) paper questions after completing less complex questions.
Take Resonance over Allen ones if buying new as Resonance being new in medical stream is updating its material ever year, while new Allen sheets aren't very much different from old ones which you can get from shops or sites like olx or quikr. Also, take Allen Bio only if possible, avoid Physics and Chemistry.
do coaching institute give tricks and shortcuts? as i m not able to go to coaching i use you tube videos to clear my concept and books and by solving question...can u pls tell the concepts or just the name of concept so that i can give extra effort..
ReplyDeleteu have used both allen and resonance modules..in that which has a better theory?do u find any question of resonance modules to be the same in NEET , i mean the question or the concept? i saw the jee main chemistry one and in organic in neet there was a difficult question on optical isomerism biphenyl..same was in the resonance module
Yes,they help out in some popularly asked difficult problems by giving an easy to solve method to rememeber in case a similar question comes.Resonance ones are way better for both theory and questions in Physics and Chemistry.Yes,many questions similar to or eve the same can occur in NEET/AIIMS exams from Resonance sheets as they are quite precise with the pattern. In Chem, may be JEE Main level won't bother you but in Physics it may get problematic.Still,if you are comfortable with it,no problem. But,do solve past year papers of AIPMT as they aren't given in JEE Main sheets.
Deletei do not know why many people who got aiims tell to read allen module on quora..also i hear their previous year question bank of aiims is very authentic? is it true? also allen gives a book of physics shortcut and mnemonics.."physics gutka" is it helpful?
ReplyDeleteSee the pattern has changed quite a lot in the past two years and as for Biology it's is of even lower level in AIIMS(90%-100% NCERT) than NEET. Actually quite a lot people take coaching from Allen,so they recommend it as they have used it themselves.Previous year question bank is authentic, but still it's better to improve your concepts rather than relying on old questions, which are as such outdated by format. This year AIIMS asked very conceptual questions, which can be done by only those who understand Physics and have done a lot of variety of questions.Direct Formula questions are on a decline these days.So that "Gutka" book is good for basic revision but won't help much at large as of today's NEET/AIIMS pattern.
Deletei have also got DPP but it is in a book not in sheets..in book it is divided into chapters..mixture of chapters, single chapter dpp...as u were a classroom student have u seen their dlp? i mean the theory and questions in it? as a classroom student u might feel it better than allen but have u seen the dlp(ur any friend used like that)? are detailed solution given?
ReplyDeleteYou have got DLP edition I guess.I had seen the DLP books kept for demo at my study centre, but don't know if they contained detailed solutions or not. But,on the basis if what I have heard, they give answers or hints but detailed solutions aren't given. Also, Resonance doesn't differ in DLP and classroom much,as I had been told by some faculties.
Deletei dont know actually it may be a combo of both ..because in book cover it is not written dlp..written vijay jr course and thin modulesfor each chapter covering less theory and more questions and hints given backside and in DPP book it is written DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM
ReplyDeleteand how is the physics of resonance? like difficult chapter like rot mechanics..how was the theory ? does it make the concept clear? also how is revision package of resonance or rank booster pack?
ReplyDeletewhat you think you have made mistake in your preparation you dont want others to do? what were your individual marks in PCB in NEET and AIIMS
ReplyDeleteWill write posts on the topics suggested by you.I think comments section of this post isn't the best place to write so much information, which as such is quite less readable.
ReplyDeleteHey admin ! Can you please tell about the level of physics ques.which comes in AIIMS.. I mean is it required to practice IIT level questions also ?
ReplyDeleteGiving a broad idea, the preparation you are doing for NEET exam is sufficient for AIIMS. For some over the edge questions you need to do JEE-Main/AIEEE past year papers from 2002,NCERT Additional Exercises and NCERT Exemplar Problems. No need to do JEE Advanced level questions atleast in Physics.
DeleteHello manas,
ReplyDeleteI am confused between DC pandey and unicersal selfscorer erroless for physics. Which book is Good for the preparation of neet? And what is the difference between them ? Plz answer .
See actually DC Pandey serves as a good source for theory and as an add-on for questions. As for USS, I don’t recommend wasting time doing the same type of old pattern questions. Rather pickup modules of coaching institutes which are customised not to repeat questions too much and be more relevant as of today’s pattern.
DeleteI need a good book for questions in chemistry and time is very less for this year's exams to be held which book should I buy is universal self score good or n avasthi suggest any book apart from Allen dlp resonance ones and these both also
ReplyDeleteThe books of Narendra Awasthi and MS Chouhan for Physical and Organic Chemistry, respectively are the best ones that go with the pattern of NEET, and are preferable over Universal Self Scorer, which I have heard from some of my friends ain't a good book. I used only Resonance modules, DPPs and these books so can't say about other books like GRB or MTG. Although I can say that no questions in NEET can go out of the above mentioned books, so they are quite sufficient for your purpose.
DeleteAs my teachers is suggesting not to solve n avasthi as is for IIT and only few questions are there in them which follows the pattern required for neet examination as no topic wise questions are there so what to do then my teacher is himself IITIan
ReplyDeleteSee Narendra Awasthi has an ‘AIPMT/AIIMS’ edition and I am talking about that.I have even attached the pic in the chemistry study material post for reference. Don’t get confused with the JEE one. Also, in it all questions are given topic wise so no worry on That point too. Universal Self Scorer is a clear ‘no’.
DeleteNA AWASTHI AND MS CHAUHAN HAS DETAILED SOLUTION??
DeleteThey have detailed solutions to may of the difficult questions, but not all.
DeleteSo should I buy universal self scorer or no
ReplyDeleteI am confuse between H C Verma and D C Panday which one is best for NEET?
ReplyDeleteI have already answered about this in the previous comments, given above.
DeletePlease tell imp topics for aiims physics
ReplyDeleteI need you serious help. Please tell me your email id. please help me
ReplyDeletepleasee for god help me
ReplyDeleteWhich book should I use to solve MCQ in. Physics and chemistry to get the good rank in neet 2018 and I have got only 1 year of preparation
ReplyDeleteThis post is good enough to make NEET students get more information about the study materials. Great topic, thanks for lot for sharing a such good post! NEET Previous Year Solved Papers
ReplyDeleteHi admin
ReplyDeleteplease tell which is a good book of physics-universal self scorer or dc pandey for neet preparation
and please also tell me appropriate books and guidelines for chemistry and biology for neet 2019
Which book to study for communication in AIIMS.
ReplyDeleteI love how this blog post dives deep into the subject matter. It's evident that you have a deep knowledge and passion for the topic. also read our blog post Self-Care for NEET and JEE Aspirants
