All about the Subjects-NEET Chemistry

Greetings Readers
Continuing my previous post on Exam pattern, today I will be writing about NEET Chemistry.
NEET Chemistry
As of 2016,the NEET Chemistry paper consists of 45 questions of 4 marks each, giving a total of 180 marks. The paper although not mentioned, but is divided into three sections-Physical,Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, normally each section having 15 questions(may vary a bit too).
Personally speaking Chemistry was my 'the favorite subject' throughout my preparation.Although Biology was my No.1 subject and later on I started liking Physics also, but Chemistry was that subject that never failed me from day one.I didn't face much problems in this subject except in like Inorganic Chem and Thermodynamics.
Talking of all Bio students,Chemistry is one subject which is neither much difficult nor so easy, but which can be easily mastered by being regular with it and just learning and practicing a lot.Concepts may take a while to understand but you won't face problems again if you understand them sufficiently once.
Now coming to the topics, first lets take Physical Chemistry
Physical Chemistry is the more mathematical and calculative part of Chemistry where honestly sometimes we Bio people get stuck because of lengthy calculations and formulas.
I too did many mistakes in tests of Physical Chemistry, but one thing is that there is always scope to improve and you can do it yourself.
One of the things to improve is your calculations and the way you take approximations.Sometimes here very long and confusing figures are given as values of physical quantities. You need to learn how to approximate and get to the closest value in the shortest time. This will not come in one day but will take a lot of practice and lots of errors and corrections, plus feedback from you test results.
Topics like Thermodynamics,Equilibrium,Mole Concept and Electrochemistry are fundamental concept making topics and you should make these topics strong so as to get a command over the subject. In the real paper,Physical Chemistry will take more time as compared to the Organic and Inorganic parts so you need to keep a track of time too.
Next up is Organic Chemistry
If this didn't exist,Chemistry could have become my least favorite subject of the three.Organic was simply my strongest command from day one and the way this subject put questions simply fascinated me.The name reactions were favorites and we used to have a lot of fun deciding major products of these.
Coming to the subject,Organic Chem is basically broken into several chapters according to functional groups and some introductory topics like IUPAC Nomenclature,POC and GOC.Most of you may not be knowing POC and GOC. Actually these are Practical Org Chem and General Org Chem. POC consists of tests of detecting a particular functional group in a compound wheres GOC contains concepts like Resonance,I effect,M effect, hyperconjugation and effect of these on acidic and basic strength of organic compounds.
Truly saying,GOC is the abcd..... of Organic Chemistry.Without studying its impossible to score easily and quick in NEET and AIIMS.Once you get a good command over GOC,you can predict products of reaction yourself rather than looking and getting confused by the options.Although some coachings like Allen and Resonance do teach GOC,many of them ignore it and just make the students mug the reactions, which results in weak concepts for many except for those 'rattus' and 'maggus' who well..................mug up everything.
Good sources to study GOC are Resonance AIPMT DLP Booklets and a book called "Problems in Organic Chemistry for AIPMT/AIIMS" by MS Chouhan. Trust me if you do both of them with complete concept grasp then you are at good chances of getting 100% in AIPMT and AIIMS Organic Chemistry.
Next and the most feared part is Inorganic Chemistry
It is basically the most dreaded part due to its reputation of being too much lengthy and 'ratta lagana' type.Although exceptions of Chemical Bonding(one of the most fundamental topics of inorganic chemistry) and Periodic Table. These two topics are quite conceptual and once you get the basics right, you will never do mistakes in them.
Actually the 'rattu' part is s-block,p-block(class 11 &12) and d and f block. They contain quite a number of reactions, structures and reactivity orders. You may learn reactivity order by remembering the reason behind the order.Reactions may be learnt by writing them again and again, structures can be learnt by drawing again and again. The key thing to do here is to revise again and again and solve any residual doubts. Also, you don't need to go out of the NCERT book here. Even JEE guys study only NCERT for inorganic chem.Although you may refer to other materials for questions and reactivity orders which may not be properly given in NCERT.
I have told you a lot about NEET Chemistry. Will expand on individual topics later on.My next post will be on everyone's (including me) most feared subject-Physics!!!!!!
Till then
Bye!
Edit:Do post your queries in comments section.I will try my best to answer them.
